MOSCOW, Nov 5 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Association of Professional Users of Social Networks and Messengers has suggested the Digital Development Ministry consider introduction of fines up to 10 million rubles for censoring of local media for foreign Internet companies, the association said in a letter seen by PRIME on Thursday.
The association wants that “foreign companies that have no official representative office in Russia are punished with multi-million fines for censoring Russian media and wants other amendments to be added to the regulations to arrest the money collected in favor of foreign companies by their Russian partners.”
The letter also said quoting the communications service that Facebook, Google, and Twitter limit access to the materials of about 20 Russian media, including RIA Novosti, RT, Sputnik, and Rossiya 1.
